2016 Survivor Pinot Noir

2016 Survivor Pinot Noir
2016 Survivor Pinot Noir

The latest estate Pinot noir in our lineup, the Survivor was originally made in 2008 from fruit that survived a vole infestation in the vineyard. Luckily, this vintage did not suffer the toils of 2008, resulting in delicate wine with white pepper and fresh green chile on the nose.

Block E was planted in 2002, and contains 2 acres of Dijon clone 115 fruit. Clone 115 yields flavors of rose petal, red cherry, black raspberry, and sometimes leather or anise, with a medium to full body and soft tannins. Block E has an elevation of about 800 feet.

Block G was planted in 2005, and contains 4 acres of Pommard clone fruit. Pommard is an “old school” clone, known for displaying dark fruit flavor and a meaty edge. The Pommard section of Block G has an elevation of 700-760 feet.

Vista Hills Vineyard 42-acre, LIVE certified sustainable vineyard rests atop the storied Dundee Hills in Dayton, Ore. We are nestled between Domaine Serene to the East and stunning Valley views to the West, thirty-five miles southwest of Portland. Our vines occupy some of the most sought-after terrain in the region.

The resident Jory soil is brick-red in color and dense with nutrients. Its exceptional draining capacity is ideal for the area's many wet months. While half of our acreage is used for the Vista Hills label, the remaining fruit is sold to a host of local producers including Dobbes Estate, Adelsheim Vineyard, Le Cadeau, White Rose Wines and Elizabeth Chambers Cellar.
